Living Will

A living will is a document that expresses one’s intent and desires should there come a time when two doctors determine a person is unable to make decisions for themselves, is terminally ill, and where death is imminent, whether or not life-sustaining procedures are utilized. Patients can indicate their wishes and desires regarding efforts to prolong the dying process through the application of life-sustaining measures such as a ventilator or feeding tube. A person may wish to have this document drafted to avoid the situation that took place with Terri Schiavo in Florida, who was kept alive through artificial means for more than a decade in what was described as a vegetative state.
